RoboCup, an international football competition for robots, kicked off on June 27 in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. Teams of robots play independently, without any human help during the match. Organizers say the competition is aimed at developing new technologies in robotics by sharing ideas between teams. The RoboCup founders have set a goal of developing a team of soccer robots capable of defeating the human world champions by 2050. (Reuters video)
